(3) Belt Adjustment on Extraction Belt
(a) Belt Tracking Extraction Belt
NOTICE
Belt tracking is performed at the drive drum of the discharge conveyor. Both sides of the drive
drum are adjustable.
A small movement in the adjuster i.e. Less than 10 mm should be sufficient. A greater movement
will effect the tension of the belt.
To maintain the adjusters, it is recommended that the adjusters are regularly checked for any dirt
or debris. Ensure that the belt adjusters are filled to maximum capacity with grease to prevent
water from entering into them.
The belt must be sufficiently tight to prevent slippage at the drive drum. If, over tightened the life
of the belt decreases.
PROCEDURE
1. Observe all safety warnings.
2. Shut down the machine and implement the lockout and tag out procedure.
3. Determine which side requires adjustment.
4. Loosen the screws and clamping nuts (Item 3).
5. Gain safe access to the belt adjuster and loosen the lock nut (Item 2).

6. Rotate the adjuster nut (Item 1) on the drum adjuster. Rotate in small increments.
7. Tighten the screws and clamping nuts (Item 3).
8. Remove the lockout and tag out.
9. Start the machine and place the discharge conveyor into operation and view the belt alignment.
10. If satisfied with the alignment, shut down the machine and implement the lockout and tag
out procedure. Tighten the lock nut (Item 2).
11. If unsatisfied with the alignment, shut down the machine and implement the lockout and tag
out procedure and repeat step 4 - 7 until alignment is satisfactory.
