Specify the
Type of Public WAN IP for Internet Connection
by selecting either
dynamic
or
static
. For private networks, ensure the
Current public WAN IP
address
is the same as the local IP address.
If a TalkSwitch unit at this location will act as the SIP server for the VoIP
network, we recommend having a static IP address.
If the TalkSwitch unit acting as the SIP server has a dynamic public IP
address, enter the
Fully Qualified Domain Name
(FQDN) associated with the
public IP address. If the address is static, you can leave this field blank.
You can obtain an FQDN from a Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS)
provider such as DynDNS (visit
http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/
dyndns/
). Check your router documentation to confirm which DDNS your
router can support.
VOIP CONFIGURATION
The
System Information > VoIP Configuration
page allows you to set up a
TalkSwitch profile, system provider profile, and codec options. You can also
view registrar entries and registration status, and can reserve VoIP resources
for specific services.
Setting up a TalkSwitch profile
The TalkSwitch profile contains the registration details and authentication
information of the TalkSwitch unit that is acting as the SIP server for a
multi-location network.
Any TalkSwitch unit can act as the SIP server (proxy/registrar/redirect).
However a multi-location network requires that one (and only one)
TalkSwitch unit be configured to act as the SIP server.
When the SIP server is enabled and other VoIP devices are registered with the
SIP server, all VoIP calls within the multi-location network contact the SIP
server to resolve the destination location. Once the destination is resolved,
the call goes directly from the source to the destination. This facilitates
configuration and maintenance for multi-branch and telework applications.
