I N I T I AL ENG A G E M ENT AN D C L U T C H L O C K- U P I N S P E C T I ON
The L T-4W D is equ i pped with a centrifu ga l type
automatic c l utch.
To i nsu re proper pe rfo rm ance and l o n gev ity of
the c l u tch asse m b l ies it i s essential that the c l utches
engage smooth l y and g rad u a l l y . Two i n spection
checks m u st be perfo rmed to t h o ro u g h l y check the
operat i o n of the d rivetra i n . F o l l ow the p roced u res
l i sted .

INITIAL ENGAGE MENT INSPECTION
•
Con n ect a n e l ectric tachometer to the h ig h
tension cord .
•
Start the engi n e.
•
S h i ft the tra nsfe r l ever to the " 2W D " posit i o n
a n d su b-transm iss i o n l ever to th e " H igh" position ,
and t h en sh ift the gea rsh i ft l ever to the " Low"
posi t i o n .
•
Seated on the m ac h i ne, i ncrease the engine
R P M s slowly and note the RPM at wh ich the
mach i n e beg i n s to m ove fo rwa rd .

B riefly open the th rottl e fu l ly a n d n ote the
m ax i m u m e n g i n e R P M s susta i ned d u r i n g the
test cyc l e.
