I N S P ECTI O N  

• 

I nsert  the  u n iversa l  J O i nt  t o   the  bea r i n g   and 

check  the  p lay  by  mov i n g   the  u n iversa l  j o i nt. 

I f  an excessive p l ay i s  n oted,  rep l ace  the bea r i n g  

with a  new one. 

• 

I nspect  the  u n iversa l  j o i nt  and outer su rface of 

bea r i ng for scu ff i n g  a n d  f l aw. 

• 

I nspect the seco n d a ry  driven  output s haft  for 

d i stortion . 

• 

T h e   d rive  a n d   driven  bevel  g e a rs  m u st  be 

i n s pe cted  thoroughly  for  excessive  w e a r   or 

damage. It is important that both gears be i n  good 
cond ition to  m a i nt a i n  proper tooth  contact .
