SSxDSL-5 IDSL Module

CALL APPEARANCE
The  CAP  (Call  Appearance)  value  is  used  on  ISDN  BRI  lines 
which are configured with CACH (Call Appearance Call Handling), 
and/or EKTS (Electronic Key Telephone Systems). CAP is used 
to determine a button number on a key telephone. This value is 
used for both placing a call to test the number of CAPs a line 
may have, and receiving a call, to test for a particular directory 
number, which can be associated with a specific button. CAP is 
not applicable to ETSI protocol and when selected this setting is 
not displayed. Use the following F-key to set the value:
NONE (F1): No call appearance value.
INC+1 (F2): Increment the call appearance by 1.
DEC-1 (F3): Decrement the call appearance by 1.
1/10 (F4): Increase or decrease factor (1 or 10).
FIRST CALL I/O
Options: SPEAKER (F1), HANDSET (F2)
Determine if the first incoming or outgoing call will be placed on 
the speaker or handset.
•  SPEAKER:  Use  the  test  set  internal  speaker  and  micro-

phone.

•  HANDSET: Use a handset and turns the test set speaker and 

microphone off.

S/T TERMINATION
Options: ON (F1), OFF (F2)
Determine if the S/T port is terminated. S/T termination applies 
to TE-S/T mode. When on, it terminates the line with 100

W

. If off, 

it puts a high impedance on the line.

ENCODING LAW
Options: u-LAW (F1), A-LAW (F2)
Determine the algorithm used to encode and decode voice fre-
quency signals. 
•  u-LAW: Used in the US, Canada, and Japan.
•  A-LAW: Used in Europe 

DIGIT DIALING
Options: 7 (F1), 10 (F2)
Determine the number of digits dialed.
•  7: A local phone number with 7 dialing digits.
•  10: A 10 digit phone number; including a 3 digit area code.
