Removing and Replacing Hot-Swappable Cards

4. Disconnect any cables connected to the ports on the distributed management card.
Use only the Console port on the distributed management card; all other cabling
should be to the rear transition card at the rear of the server. See
location of the Console port on the DMC.
5. Slide the board evenly out of the enclosure.
6. Install a replacement distributed management card in the slot.
Refer to
5.1.3, “Installing a Distributed Management Card” on page
.
Note –
As long as the distributed management card is removed from the slot and
the system is running with only the single remaining DMC, you will not have
redundancy for that component. Both distributed management cards must be
installed and running in order to have redundancy for that component.
5.1.3
Installing a Distributed Management Card
1. Locate the distributed management card slots.
The distributed management cards can only be inserted in slot 1A and 1B.
2. Prepare the distributed management card by opening its injector/ejector handle
(
).
3. Carefully align the edges of the board with the card guides in the distributed
management card slot.
Look into the enclosure to verify correct alignment of the rails in the guides.
4. Keeping the board aligned in the guides, slide the board in until the
injector/ejector mechanism engages the retention bar.
5. Simultaneously push in the board and rotate the injector/ejector handle to its
closed position (rotate inward) to seat the midplane connectors.
If system power is on, the distributed management card boots and its READY LED
lights green (active DMC) or blinks green (standby DMC). It can take several
seconds for the LED to change to solid green or blinking green.
6. Screw in the board retention screw to anchor the board in the chassis.
This screw is located at the opposite end of the faceplate from the ejector handle.
By default, the distributed management card sets its IP addresses statically.
Firmware V1.01a is configured with the static IP address 10.90.90.91. Reconfigure the
IP addresses for your network the first time you log on, prior to adding the
distributed management card to your network.
