Removing and Installing Distributed
Management Cards
The distributed management cards (DMCs) in slot 1 affect power to slots 2-21 in
accordance with the PICMG 2.1 specification. PICMG 2.1 states that the power
control (BD_SEL#) signals must be asserted (grounded) for the boards to power up.
5.1.1
Rules and Restrictions for Distributed
Management Cards
Following are the rules and restrictions for hot-swapping the distributed
management cards:

If you are hot-swapping a distributed management card, you
cannot
hot-swap any
other component in the Netra CT 820 server while the card is removed from the
system. Once you have installed the distributed management card back into the
system and it is up and running, you can then hot-swap any other component in
the server.
■
You cannot hot-swap both distributed management cards at the same time. The
rear transition card for the distributed management card is a single card that
extends ports from both distributed management cards to the rear of the server.
Removing the rear transition card is essentially the same thing as removing both
