FUNCTIONS
Pre-Collision System
The Pre-Collision System helps keep you and your passengers safe with sensors to detect
obstacles in the path of the vehicle and a collection of complementary functions to help
prevent or minimize a collision. The system includes the following functions:
• Pre-Collision Braking
• Emergency Steering Assist
• Low Speed Acceleration Suppression
The Pre-Collision System can be disabled/enabled and the warning timing can be
customized in the Multi-information Display (see page 99).
Pre-Collision Braking
This function helps prevent or
minimize a frontal collision with
another vehicle, pedestrian, or
other objects by providing visual
and audible warnings. When the
system determines that the
possibility of a frontal collision
with a detectable object is high, a
warning operates to alert you to
take evasive action, and the
potential brake pressure is
increased to help you avoid the
collision. If the system determines
that the possibility of a collision is
extremely high, the brakes are automatically applied to help avoid the collision or help
reduce the impact of the collision. The system may also alert you and apply the brakes if it
detects a risk of collision with a vehicle at an intersection, an oncoming vehicle while
turning, or a pedestrian crossing the road after turning.
