INSTRUMENTS AND AVIONICS

INSTRUMENT PANEL - GENERAL DESCRIPTION

ATTITUDE AND NAVIGATION CONTROL INSTRUMENTS – INSTRUMENT PANEL

A. All flight and navigation instruments, except the magnetic compass, are installed on the left
part of the instrument panel.

(1) The frontal reading compass is set in the upper part of the instrument panel, the

residual deviation table is underneath.

(2) The anemometer or air speed indicator is standard type, with Knots scale graduated to

160 Knots; it is feeded by the dynamic and the static air.-

(4) The altimeter has three pointers: the shortest one marks the ten thousands, the
the intermediate one the thousands and the longest one the hundred and

the ten foot.

A turning button in the lower left part allows to set the pressure values which will be read

in millibar on a small opening on the right side of the instrument.- (QFE - QNH - QNE). It
is feeded by the air taken in from the statics.

(4) The rate-of-climb indicator, standard type, is also feeded by the static air;

it is calibrated in ft/min with a full scale value of 2.000 ft/min.-

(5) The bank indicator is a turn coordinator electric.-

(6) The optional artificial horizon is electric or vacuum operated and has a reference aircraft

profile displaying the aircraft movements; the aircraft profile may be moved vertically,
depending on the pilot’s height to avoid parallax errors. It is operated through a knob on
the lower part of the instrument .-

(7) The optional directional gyro has a vertical revolving dial, graduated with 05° - 10°
and 30° intervals .- It is electric or vacuum operated and has a knob in its lower left part to

select route or heading to be matched with the magnetic compass.
