Final Assembly Continued
102. Insert the remaining 2 in. dowel through the hole in the rear wing mount
block. Center the dowel with an equal length extending from each side.
Bond the dowel to the fuselage with thin CA.
103. Insert the 3-3/4 in. dowel through the holes in the fuselage sides. Center the
dowel so that an equal length extends from both sides. Bond with thin CA.
Power System
104. Solder the appropriate Deans Connector or similar - whichever matches
your charger - to the battery lead on your ESC.
105. Complete any soldering necessary to enable you to connect your ESC with
the motor. Connect the ESC and motor. Temporarily connect the ESC to
your receiver (bind the receiver to your transmitter if needed), turn on your
transmitter, then connect the battery. While holding the motor firmly by the
motor mount, slowly advance the throttle and ensure that the motor is
turning the correct direction. If it is not, simply unplug any two of the three
motor leads and swap them. Check again for proper rotation, then
disconnect the battery and receiver.
106. With the motor leads extending down, tack glue two of the nylon washers on
the back side of each of the two
left
side mounting holes
(DO NOT ALLOW
CA GLUE TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE MOTOR WINDINGS)
.
When the motor is mounted, this will set the correct
right
thrust offset of the
motor.
107. Insert the ESC and wiring through the hole in the
lower
portion of the ply
motor mount.
108. With the motor leads pointing down, screw the motor to the motor mount
with the four supplied #2 x 3/8 in. screws. Ensure that the motor is offset to
the
right
slightly. If it isn’t, it’s likely the washers are under the wrong
mounting tabs. Correct this if necessary, relocating the washers under the
left
mounting tabs.
109. Pull the wiring through one of the holes running along each side of F1, into
the radio compartment.
