80. Dry fit sub-rib W25 to the slots in the spar and leading edge web between
ribs W5 and W21.
81. Fit the diagonal braces W26 between rib W5 and the sub-rib W25. The rear
of W26 will fit in the angle created by the spar and rib W25. The front of
W26 will fit in the angled notch in the leading edge web.
In the same manner, fit diagonal brace W27 between the sub-rib W25 and
rib W21.
Hold the wing tip down on a flat surface and bond all mating surfaces
between spars, ribs, leading and trailing edges with thin CA.
82. Assemble the
left
wing tip sheeting from parts W28a(L), W28b(L), and
W28c(L). Bond with thin CA.
83. Fit and tack glue the leading edge of the tip sheeting W28 to the wing
leading edge and the front portion of rib W21. Ensure that the sheeting lies
flush with the top of rib W21.
84. Bend tip sheeting W28 over rib W21 and the spars, fitting the notches in the
sheeting to the tabs in the ribs and spars. Ensure that all mating surfaces
are flush, and bond with thin CA.
85. Spray one of the 1/8 in. square balsa wing tip reinforcements with glass
cleaner and allow it to soak in for a minute or two. Carefully tape the
reinforcement to the wing tip, allowing it to extend a little fore and aft. When
dry, remove the tape and bond with thin CA.
86. Trim and sand the rear part of the reinforcement until it flows smoothly into
the wing tip sheeting.
87. Sand the bottom of the trailing edge until it meets and flows into the bottom
of the tip sheeting.
