88. Trim and sand the front of the reinforcement until it flows smoothly into the
forward portion of the tip sheeting.
89. Repeat steps 75 through 88 to construct the
right
wing tip. The
right
wing tip
sheeting will be built from W28a(R), W28b(R), and W28c(R).
90. Assemble the spar cap W29 from parts W29a and W29b. Bond with thin
CA.
91. Fit the spar cap W29 into the notches in the ribs over the main spar W1.
Center the spar cap within the “V” between ribs W3. There should be an
equal amount - about 1/2 in. - extending beyond each rib W5. (Do not trim
this excess, as it will be bonded to the tip spar.) Bond the spar cap W29 to
the main spar W1, tip spar W19, and ribs W3, W4, and W5 with thin CA.
92. Fit the basswood center section turbulator spars W30 and W31 to the slots
in the forward portion of ribs W3. W30 will lie closest to the main spar, W31
will lie closest to the leading edge. The ends of the spars should terminate
in the center of the slots in the ribs, allowing the main turbulator spars to
share the same slot.
93. Fit the main turbulator spars W32 and W33 to the slots in the forward portion
of ribs W3, W4, and W5. W32 will lie closest to the main spar W1, and W33
will lie closest to the leading edge. The ends of the spars will terminate in
the middle of the slots in rib W3 and rib W5. This will allow the tip turbulator
spars to share the slot in rib W5.
94. Fit the tip spar cap W34 to the slots in ribs W5 and W21, and the tip
sheeting W28, above the main tip spar W19. Allow the end of the spar cap
to extend beyond rib W5 about 1/2 in., and bond it to the main spar W1.
95. Fit the tip turbulator spars W35 and W36 to the slots in ribs W5 and W21,
sub-rib W25, and the wing tip sheeting W28. Spar W35 will lie closest to the
main tip spar, and W36 will lie closest to the leading edge.
Now bond all
turbulator spars installed in steps 92 - 95 within wing assembly.
