ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE OPTIONS

9.7 Measuring Flatness

9.7.1 Basics

Click 'Flatness' in the main menu to open the interface for
surface measurement. As seen with measuring tilt along a
straight line, a plane can be measured in equal terms by mea-
suring more than one line along its axes. Using this technique
yields very precise results but is also very laborious. The
interferometer and optic elements need to be set up multiple
times. 

This time consuming setup can be greatly shortened by using two additional reflectors or
flat-mirrors. By using these additional mirrors, the interferometer and the interferometer
element (IK1) do not need to be set up again. Fig. 82 shows the IK1 and RK1 with two flat-
mirrors.
