Try to align the laser so that its beam is as parallel as possible to the axis. Place a spirit
level on top of the laser head and adjust using the pivot fixture. Align with the inclinometer
on the semi-deflector IK1 (they should have about the same inclination).
Now set the double reflector RK1 on the guideway, rail or bearing way so that its target
point is hit by the laser (consequently it must horizontal, see fig. 71). Do this directly next to
the laser to begin with, without the IK1 interfering.
Run the reflector to the end of the axis and adjust the laser on its adjusting frame so that
the beam hits the target again. Repeat this process for all measuring points along the axis.
The laser is parallel once the beam hits the target along the
axis (see fig. 71)
You can now adjust the IK1 between laser and RK1 by setting
the targets horizontally and aligning them to the beam. Once
open, the IK1 will split the beam in two which should now
approximately hit both targets on the RK1.

Important notice
Use the adjusting tilt on the interferometer frame to align the laser and
reflector for long distances. For short distances either shift the laser or
the RK1 parallel to the axis.
