MEASURING ACCURACY IN POSITION
7.2 Configuring Accuracy of Measurement in Position
7.2.1 Basics
Accuracy hereby means how often the axis of measurement can be used to reliably
repeat results in positioning. In this way, it is measured to an ideal alignment and com-
pared to the actual results it delivers along the axis.
7 Measuring Accuracy in
Position
7.1 Vibration (optional)
In most cases it is wise to measure resonance along the axis before determining a precise
positioning, but not necessarily obligatory. If your machine does produce strong inertial
forces, however, you might want to check the impact it has on
measurement. To do this we need to measure any change in
distance between the IL1 and RL1.
In the main menu of the software select 'Vibration' (see fig. 33).
Under section Display select 'Distance' and 'Single' under
Measurement Type. Choose 4 sec. for the duration and 0 sec.
for the averaging value in the drop down fields as shown in fig.
34. Click 'Start' to initiate. After measurement is finished two
graphs will appear. The bottom one shows the amplitude of
additional frequencies to the vibration of the system as a
whole. Compare the mains frequency and their multipliers. If
these drastically amplitude, then your power source (aggre-
gate, transformer, motor etc.) is causing interference and
should be replaced or refurbished.
