MEASURING ACCURACY IN POSITION
7.2.3 Automatic Point Detection
Select 'Point detection' in the configuration menu under 'Positioning' to set the parame-
ters for automatic detection (see fig. 39). Auto-detection takes place within these values.
'Point tolerance' allows a discrepancy between actual measurement and ideal value for
the program to determine a
point.
Parts of the axis may contin-
ue to vibrate after adjusting
its position (due to strain).
This can be accounted for
by setting 'Vibration less
than' to a specific value.
Automatic point detection
occurs respective of this
value, likewise 'Point cap-
ture after' sets a time limit to
when the point is recorded
after measurement.
These parameters help to eliminate false measurement due to interference caused by
vibration. The longer a measurement takes, the less impact vibration will have on it. In
short, by averaging the mean time value in seconds, you can either lengthen the time
lapsed for precise measurement or shorten it if less or no interference is to be expected.
