Why is communication speed low?
The actual maximum throughput of each Wireless LAN PC Card is as follow s.
PCWA-C800S (2.4 GHz (802.11b)): approx. 5 Mbps
PCWA-C800S (2.4 GHz (802.11g) or 5 GHz (802.11a)): approx. 23 Mbps
PCWA-C500, PCWA-C700 (5 GHz (802.11a)): approx. 23 Mbps
PCWA-C700 (2.4 GHz (802.11b)): approx. 5 Mbps
PCWA-C300S: approx. 23 Mbps. If the access point is used w ith 802.11b, this value is approx. 5 Mbps.
How ever, the values stated above are also affected by the maximum possible value betw een the access point and your computer. Therefore, if you are
accessing the Internet, the maximum throughput is a function of the Internet connection.
The communication speed may also decrease in the follow ing situations.
If the distance betw een the access point and computer is great, or there are objects betw een the tw o interfering w ith communications.
If w ireless connections w ith several computers are established simultaneously.
2.4 GHz w ireless communication may be affected by microw ave ovens, Bluetooth devices, etc., as w ell radio signals from other 2.4 GHz communication
devices, resulting in low er communication speed.
When using a PCWA-C700 or PCWA-C300S, you can only transmit data at 2 Mbps at 2.4 GHz, on channel 14. With the PCWA-C800S, you can transmit at up
to 11 Mbps.
If "Communication type" on the Wireless Panel w indow "Status" tab is "802.11g (.11g Mixed)", the access point is operating under a mixed mode w ith
802.11b, reducing communication speed.
