Troubleshooting

The unit cannot connect to an externally 

connected portable device.

 

If portable devices are connected to the top and rear 

USB ports on the unit, disconnect one of them.

 

Reconnect the USB cable.

While transferring audio data to the USB storage 

device, the entire name of a folder cannot be 

transferred.

 

For a USB storage device, the maximum size for a 

folder name is 83 bytes (83 alphanumeric characters).

The unit cannot play MP3 audio files.

 

The MP3 audio files are recorded in a format that is 

not supported.

An editing operation takes a long time.

 

The time it takes for an editing operation depends on 

the number of albums or tracks that are stored in the 

HDD Jukebox.

 

Editing operations may take a long time for Linear 

PCM-format tracks.

Title information cannot be obtained.

 

The unit is not connected to the Internet.

 

The database of the Gracenote® Music Recognition 

Service does not contain any information that 

corresponds with the disc (pages 73 and 108).

 

It may not be possible to obtain title information for 

tracks that have been poorly recorded; for example, 

tracks that are not recorded from their beginning.

 

Information cannot be obtained for tracks with a 

length of 15 seconds or less.

Tracks cannot be combined.

 

You cannot combine tracks if the combined playing 

time of both tracks exceeds 120 minutes.

 

The format of the tracks are different (e.g., one is a 

Linear PCM-format track and the other a ATRAC-

format track) or the bit rate of the tracks are different  

(e.g., one has a bit rate of 105 kbps and the other 132 

kbps).

After repeated editing (dividing and combining) 

of the track(s), the tracks cannot be combined.

 

This occurs due to the technical limitation of the 

HDD system. It is not a malfunction.

When recording from FM, AM or DAB*, music 

and talk contents cannot be distinguished 

automatically.

 

Check whether the “Track mark” setting for the 

recording is set to “Auto” (page 55).

A track cannot be divided.

 

You tried to divide a track at its beginning or end.

 

A track cannot be divided if after the division the 

total number of tracks on the HDD Jukebox exceeds 

40,000 tracks.

You cannot find the desired album or artist when 

using the Initial letter search function.

 

If you cannot find the desired item, try searching as 

follows.

 

Redisplay the list for [etc.].

 

Do a search using a different criterion ([Artist] or 

[Album]).

“SensMe™ Channels”

A track is not in the channel that you expected.

 

Since tracks are categorized by 12 Tone Analysis 

technology, a particular track may be placed into a 

channel that you may not expect it to be. You cannot 

erase these tracks, but you can hide them so that 

they are invisible (page 70) or you can move them to 

other channels (page 70).

There are no tracks in a channel.

 

Tracks are placed into the Radio Music/Talk channel 

only when the “Track mark” setting for the recording 

is set to “Auto”.

 

If the automatic analysis has not been performed, 

tracks will not be placed into the “SensMe™ 

Channels”. Perform the analysis either automatically 

or manually (page 72).
