4-2-3. Black Shading Adjustment
Notes:
• The compensation data obtained by the black shading
adjustment is not stored in the OHB File. Therefore,
when the OHB is replaced or a new OHB is installed, be
sure to perform this adjustment.
• If the shading adjustment is not completed, perform the
adjustment again referring to the message displayed on
the viewfinder or MSU.
If the re-adjustment still is not completed, consult Sony
service representative.
Preparations:
• Connect the waveform monitor to the TEST OUT
connector.
• RGB/ENC switch (on the side panel)

: CLOSE
Adjustment Procedures:
1. Set the DISP switch (on the side panel) to MENU
while holding down the MENU SEL switch (on the
front panel).
2. Set the menu as follows and execute the auto black
shading. Press the MENU SEL switch to execute.

3. Confirm the “OK” is displayed on the viewfinder or
MSU. If the error message is displayed, perform the
adjustment again referring to this message.
Message and its meaning
BLACK:OK : Adjustment correctly completed.
LEVEL TOO HIGH : Lens closing does not operate fully,
and so on.
TIME LIMIT : Black shading adjustment could not
be completed within the specified
number of attempts.
OVER FLOW : The difference between the refer-
ence value and the current value is
too great, and exceeds adjustment
range. Adjustment is then not
completed.
4. Confirm the carrier level satisfies the specification on
the waveform monitor.
Specifications
: Less than 2 IRE (for NTSC)
Less than 14 mV (for PAL)

Note:
• Perform this adjustment only when “4-2-3. Black
Shading Adjustment” is not completed.
Equipment : Waveform monitor
Preparations:
• Connect the waveform monitor to the TEST OUT
connector.
• GAIN switch (on the side panel)
→

Test Point
: TEST OUT connector

: CLOSE
Adjustment Procedures:
1. Set the waveform monitor as follows.
• LUM mode
• VOLTFULL SCALE range
→
0.5
2. Set the ENC/RGB switch (on the side panel) to RGB.
Set the R/G/B switch (on the side panel) to G.
3. Set the DISP switch (on the side panel) to MENU
while holding down the MENU SEL switch (on the
front panel).
4. Set the menu as follows, and adjust the master black
level to 3 IRE for NTSC and 21 mV for PAL by using
the MENU SEL switch.

5. If the shading is monitored, make the waveform flat
referring to the following table.
6. Perform the adjustments for R-ch and B-ch with the
same procedures as for G-ch.
