The Upmast Turn ing Mech a nism should be in stalled in
such a po
si tion where Blind Arcs, caused by
ob struc tions, i.e. masts, fun nels etc, are elim i nated or
mini mised. Fun nels, crosstrees and other large ob struc tions
can also re flect en ergy and give rise to spu ri ous echo re turns
es pe cially in close prox im ity to land.

The Upmast Turning Mechanism must not be
mounted where the temperature exceeds 70
o
C.

The Upmast Turn ing Mech a nism must be kept clear of
ship’s flex i ble com mu ni ca tion ae ri als to avoid dam age
to both.

The Upmast Turn ing Mech a nism must be mounted
more than 914 mm above any flat sur face, when the
flat sur face is greater than the di am e ter swept by the
an tenna.

The Upmast Turn ing Mech a nism must not be
po si tioned in the close prox im ity of any mag netic
com pass or D/F ae rial, etc.
SOFT START UNIT
17 The Soft Start Unit must be sited as follows:
(1) Upmast installation, using Soft Start Unit
(CZZ-A14) - near the display.
(2) Upmast installation with long cable run, using Soft
S t a r U n i t ( C Z Z - A 1 4 - 2 ) - n e a r t h e
transceiver/turning mechanism.

The Soft Start Unit must be sited to allow removal of
the front cover.

19 The Mains Iso la tor must be sited ad ja cent to the
dis play or in the area of the op er a tors con trol room and
con nected in par al lel with the main dis play.

The ther mal over load trip unit is sup plied with the
gear box fit ting kit.
21 Re move the soft start unit cover by re leas ing the four
cap tive screws.

The trip unit, shown in Fig ure 1d, clips on the side of the
contactor and is se
cured in po si tion with re lay
ter mi na tion screws 2T1, 4T2, 6T3, 14NO and A2.
