Attaching a Mouse to the MCS

Attaching a Mouse to the MCS
If you want to attach a mouse—which you provide—you
must edit the
CONFIG.SYS
file to activate the mouse
drivers. Because you attach the mouse to the MCS COM1
port, activating the mouse drivers disables the COM1
port for a workstation connection.
Note
You can also connect a workstation to the COM2
port.
To attach a mouse, follow these steps:
1. Attach the mouse cable to the COM1 port.
2. Open an OS/2 window at the MCS monitor, and type
this:
E CONFIG.SYS
You see the
CONFIG.SYS
file.
3. Scroll down to find the following lines and delete the
word
rem
:
rem DEVICE=C:\OS2\MSSER01.SYS MODEL=199
rem DEVICE=C:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS TYPE=MSSER$
4. Save the file.
5. Reboot the MCS to activate the mouse drivers.
