6. Assembly
6.1 Installation information
Progressive metering devices of series
VP, VPK, and VPB are designed for posi-
tively driven distribution of lubricants (oils/
greases) in a centralized lubrication system.
The metering devices can be used in the
context of the technical specifications given
in the chapter “Technical data.” They can be
mounted in any alignment. In case of instal-
lation on moving machine parts or in case
of strong vibrations (e.g., on pressing ma-
chines), the piston position of the metering
device must not correspond with the direc-
tion of movement of the machine part.
To prevent flow resistance, ensure that both
the customer's supply line and the output
lines are sufficiently large.
Changing the number of sections and/or
metering rate of individual sections while
retaining the same quantity of grease sup-
ply changes all lubrication quantities of the
outlets.
The metering device should be installed in
an easily accessible position that protects it
from humidity and vibration.
The minimum installation dimensions
should be adhered to so that all other com-
ponents can be connected later without
problems.
During assembly and during any drilling
work, always pay attention to the following:

Before installing the progressive meter-
ing device, ensure that all holes, fittings,
and connecting lines in contact with the
metering device are clean and free of
metal chips.
○
Existing supply lines must not be dam-
aged by assembly work.
○
Other units must not be damaged by as-
sembly work.
○
The metering device must not be in-
stalled within range of moving parts.
○
The metering device must be installed
at an adequate distance from sources of
heat.
○
Maintain safety clearances and comply
with local regulations for assembly and
accident prevention.
○
Any visual monitoring equipment pres-
ent, such as pressure gauges, must be
clearly visible
○
Follow the mounting position require-
ments in "Technical data" (Chapter 4)
○
The product has 1 - X equipotential
bonding connections (screw M5). These
are marked by the symbol. The prod-
uct and its equipotential bonding con-
nection must be connected to the equi-
potential bonding of the main machine.
