8.2 Checking and changing lubricants

BA 2010
Operating Instructions, 02/2018, A5E38093846A/RS-AC

Procedure

Switch off the power supply to the drive unit.

Unscrew the oil level screw, see Mounting positions (Page 87). Oil escapes if the

maximum fill level is above the plug hole.

Check the oil level. Observe the fill level x.

Top up the oil level if necessary and check it again.

Check the state of the sealing ring on the sealing element. If the sealing ring is damaged,

replace the sealing element with a new one.

After checking, seal the gearbox immediately using the sealing element.

You have now checked the oil level in the gearbox housing.

Checking the oil level on size 38 gearbox housings with no screw plug for checking the oil

level
Size 38 gearboxes have no screw for checking the oil level.

In some versions of the B38 and BF38 bevel helical gearboxes, there is an additional screw

plug so that the oil level can be checked as described above.
