Before startup, check whether the backstop can be turned manually in the freewheeling direction without
exerting undue force. Observe the directionofrotation arrows on the housing.
NOTICE
Material damage
Risk of damage to or destruction of the backstop and/or the gear unit through incorrect direction of
rotation.
Do not allow the motor to run adversely to the blocking direction of the gear unit.
Observe the notice fixed to the gear unit.
WARNING
Risk of explosion through overheated backstop
Overheating of the backstop through damage or destruction through increased wear during operation
at speeds below disengagement speed.
If the gear unit is operated at speeds below the speed at which the backstop disengages, the backstops
must be regularly replaced.
The frequency of replacement is stated on the dimensioned drawing of the gear unit and on a plate on
the gear unit.
This plate is attached to the gearunit housing close to the backstop.
NOTICE
Material damage
Damage to or destruction of the backstop possible through overheating.
Check the dimension "x
min.
" regularly every 12 months. The dimension "x
min.
"
.
must not be smaller than
that stated on the rating plate of the backstop.
The operating instructions of the backstop must be observed.
WARNING
Risk of explosion
Danger to life through ignition of any potentially explosive atmosphere through sparks.
If dimension "x
min.
" is fallen below, this means that the friction pads are worn too heavily and that sparking
may occur.
When this value "x
min.
" is reached, Siemens must be consulted.
Before connecting the motor, determine the direction of rotation of the threephase current supply using
a phasesequence indicator. Connect the motor in accordance with the specified direction of rotation.
NOTICE
Material damage
Risk of damage to the backstop through missing lubrication.
Prior to startup pour in the amount of oil indicated on the notice plate through the oilfiller screw plug of
the backstop.
Always use oil of the same oil type and viscosity as that for the gear unit.
