Commissioning the system 

The functionality of the LCUR1­411 interface unit can only be checked when the entire 
system comprising  

 

Machine/system 

 

LCUR1­411  

 

C4000 Standard/Advanced 

is connected and configured as per the related operating instructions. 

6.1

 

Configuration of the C4000 Standard/Advanced 

After carrying out the necessary steps in chapter 5 “Electrical installation” of these 
operating instructions, the C4000 safety light curtain must be configured (see the SICK 
operating instructions “C4000 Standard/Advanced Safety Light Curtain”, chapter 
“Configurable functions”). 
There you will find, e.g., information on the functions 

 

Restart interlock  

 

External device monitoring (EDM) 

 

Blanking — only with C4000 Advanced 

 

Other functions

Blanking (blanking) 

Please note that with the blanking functions, additional steps are necessary during the 
electrical installation; optional parts are also required (see chapter 5.4). 
You will find detailed instructions on the configuration in the SICK operating instructions 
“C4000 Standard/Advanced Safety Light Curtain”, chapter “Configurable functions, 
Blanking”).  

Teach-in protective field again on changes! 

If a protective field changes, e.g. due to changes on the tool used, the protective field must 
be taught-in again as per the SICK operating instructions “C4000 Standard/Advanced 
Safety Light Curtain” to ensure safe operation. It is also necessary to provide additional 
mechanical protective measures in the blanked areas. Finally the safety functions must be 
tested (see chapter 7). 

 

From firmware V_3.31 the blanking function can be activated or deactivated again using 
the extension plug. As a result two operating modes are possible. These operating modes 
must be configured using the software CDS. In the following there is a short description of 
the settings necessary in the software.  
Please note that this feature is only possible with a C4000 Advanced safety light curtain 
and an extension plug. For details on the configuration, please see chapter 6 of the 
operating instructions for the C4000 Standard/Advanced.
