Maintenance
7.1Cleaning the ISD during operation
To ensure optimum data transmission performance, the ISD units need clean transmitter
and receiver lenses (optical interface) and housing (heat dissipation).
For this reason, we recommend that you check the lenses and the housing at regular
intervals, particularly if the device is operated under extreme conditions (dust, abrasion,
humidity).
Infra-red light can cause blindness!
The ISD 230/260/280 emit infra-red radiation (
λλλλλ
=
=
=
=
= 860 nm).
Looking directly at the beam can seriously damage your eyesight.
The light is not perceptible to the human eye (no eyelid reflex). The emitted radiation is not
dangerous to human skin.
Ø
Never look directly into the large lenses on the front of the device
at close range
against the direction of transmission!
Ø
Switch off the system while cleaning the units.
Ø
Observe the most recent laser specifications (DIN EN 60825-1, latest version).
Damage on the transmitter and receiver lenses!
The lenses are made of glass. Scratches and streaks on the lenses will reduce the data
transmission performance.
Ø
Use a mild, non-scouring detergent
Ø
Never use scratching or scouring motions to clean the lenses.
Cleaning the lenses and the housing surface:
Ø
Clean the lenses and the housing at regular intervals with a mild, non-scouring
detergent, e.g. an antistatic glass cleaning fluid.
Fig. 7-1
shows the lenses that require cleaning.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
