Operation
6.1Switching on the units/fine adjustment
The light path between the two units is monitored constantly in both directions. The
reception state is signalled via the LED on the front of each unit. This can be used for fine
adjustment purposes.
1.
Apply the 24 V DC supply voltage to each unit.
The green “PWO“ LEDs light up.
2.
Note the reponse of the LEDs on the front panel of each unit:
- the LEDs extinguish when the units are aligned exactly and the intensity of the
light received (light path free) is sufficient (“Light path free“ switching output: +24 V).
Check: place an object (e.g. a sheet) in the light path to interrupt the link.
The LEDs on both units light up (yellow/orange).
- If the LEDs blink when the light path is free, the units are not aligned correctly and
must be readjusted.
- If the LEDs light up constantly, the alignment is incorrect or the light path
interrupted (“Light path free“ switching output: 0 V)
3.
In a variable link, perform this check along the entire path by moving the mobile station
slowly.
The system is ready for operation when the LEDs extinguish!
6.2
Functional test of the data transmission
Ø
Send data to the electrical interface of one of the units (“RxD“ LED flickers). The
opposite unit must output this data on its electrical interface (“TxD“ LED flickers).
Ø
If the data was not transferred correctly, perform the settings again and check the
interface wiring.
If necessary, perform the troubleshooting measures shown in
Table 8-1, Page 47.
6.3
Note on operation of the system
6.3.1Operation in cooling plants
When operating the system in cooling plants (below 0 °C), ensure that the units are
switched on permanently. If a system is switched on when cold, data transmission can only
be guaranteed after the warm-up time (max. approx. 60 min., depending on the startup
temperature) has expired.
6.4
Management of the system
The “Device specification card“ provided in the Appendix supports the management of the
system. The form helps to assign a system to the location and saves the done
configuration. This will be a benefit for the replacement of a unit becoming unusable.
Ø
Please copy the form on
Page 57
and fill out for each system installed.
