Product description
This chapter provides information about how the driver assistance system works and
shows examples of its range of use.
3.1
Product characteristics
The driver assistance system comprises three main components.
The sensor head is used in conjunction with an integrated 2D camera to capture a
stereoscopic image of a scene. It forwards the image information to an evaluation unit
in the driver's cab.
The evaluation unit (or EU for short) processes the data from the sensor head and
converts the captured scene (image) into a three-dimensional database. This database
is used to detect objects on the ground within the predefined alarm areas and to output
a warning signal for the vehicle driver.
Both warning signal outputs and EU configuration are achieved via a display located in
the driver's cab.
The authorised personnel has access to an HMI (Human Machine Interface) for the
purpose of configuring the equipment. This is connected via USB and can be operated
in real time using a combined mouse and keyboard.
Consequently, the mounting, installation, and operation processes require minimal
effort, making it easier for the operating organization to use the equipment.
