Digitally connecting MD recorder or sur-
round processor, etc.
By connecting this unit to processors or amplifiers that support Dolby Digital/DTS/
MPEG multichannel surround, you can enjoy the sound via external equipment. An
MD recorder can also be connected to this unit. (Refer to the operation manual of the
equipment to be connected.)
Caution:
Turn off the other equipment before making this connection.
Notes:
z
Do not change the sound mode whilst recording. The sound may skip.
z
Do not plug in or unplug the headphones whilst recording. The sound may skip.
z
To record the Dolby Digital/MPEG multichannel sound of a DVD, set the audio out-
put to "D-PCM" or "PCM" (see pages 20, 21).
z
If the PCM sound is recorded on the DVD, set the audio output to PCM (see page
38).
z
DTS sound on a DVD cannot be recorded.

Headphones
z
Before plugging in or unplugging the headphones, reduce the volume.
z
Be sure your headphones have a 3.5 mm (1/8") diameter plug and are between 16
ohms and 50 ohms impedance. The recommended impedance is 32 ohms.
z
Plugging in the headphones disconnects the speakers automatically. Adjust the
volume using the VOLUME buttons.
z
You cannot use the surround feature with headphones.
