Before using for the fi rst time
B efore m akin g co ff ee for the fi rst ti m e , let the
appliance g o throu g h two or three fi ltration
c y cles usin g the in d icate d m a x i m u m a m ount
of col d water , but without usin g g roun d co ff ee .
Th is shoul d also be d one if the appliance has
not been use d for an e x ten d e d perio d of ti m e ,
an d a ft er d escalin g.
General information
A m easurin g scale on the water container –
facilitates fi llin g the container with the
correct a m ount of clean water . W ith a
d ual - scale , the le ft scale is use d for re g ular -
size d cups of appro x.125m l , while the ri g ht
scale is use d for s m aller cups . Make sure
that the in d icate d m a x i m u m a m ount of
water is not e x cee d e d.
I f se v eral consecuti v e brewin g c y cles are
z
re q uire d, let the appliance cool d own for
appro x. 5 m inutes a ft er each c y cle .
Important note: z W hen fi llin g the
appliance with fresh water shortl y a ft er
a brewin g c y cle is co m plete d, there is
a danger of scalding fro m hot water or
stea m escapin g throu g h the water outlet .
Making coff ee
Filling with water: –
O
pen the li d an d fi ll the container with the
d esire d q uantit y of water .
Inserting the paper fi lter: –
O
pen the swin g- out fi lter an d insert a size -4
paper fi lter into the fi lter hol d er , fi rst fol d in g
d own the perforate d si d es of the fi lter .
Filling with ground coff ee: –
F
or each re g ular - size d cup (125m l ), a m easure
of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons ) of m e d iu m
or fi nel y g roun d co ff ee will be re q uire d. Close
the swin g- out fi lter a ft erwar d s , ensurin g that
it locks into place .
Preparing the glass carafe: –
P
lace the d rip - throu g h li d onto the carafe an d
close it . E nsure that the two arrow m arks on li d
an d carafe are properl y ali g ne d before placin g
the carafe into the appliance . I f correctl y
inserte d, the li d will d isable the d rip - stop
m echanis m in the fi lter hol d er d urin g the
brewin g c y cle .
Starting the brewing cycle: –
I
nsert the plu g into a suitable wall outlet
an d use the S tart button to switch the co ff ee
m aker on . Th e fi ltration c y cle starts an d the
water passes throu g h the fi lter . Th e LED
in d icator la m p li g hts up .
Removing the glass carafe: –
W
ait until all the water has passe d throu g h
the fi
lter before the carafe is re m o v e d fro m the
appliance . O nce the brewin g c y cle is co m plete ,
the appliance switches o ff auto m aticall y an d
the LED in d icator la m p g oes out . T o interrupt
the brewin g c y cle , d isconnect the appliance
fro m the m ains .
Switching off the coff ee maker: –

e m o v e the plu g fro m the wall outlet a ft er
use .
Heat-retaining carafe
F or technical reasons the screw - in li d d oes –
not close her m eticall y. Th erefore alwa y s
hol d the carafe in an upri g ht position when
fi lle d with co ff ee .
Keeping the coff ee hot – : A heat - conser v in g
carafe accu m ulates heat ener gy. Th erefore
the carafe shoul d preferabl y be fi lle d to
its m a x i m u m capacit y. If it is only partly
fi lled, the temperature will not be held as
effi
ciently. I f y ou rinse out the carafe with
hot water before use , the co ff ee will be kept
war m for a lon g er ti m e .

the co ff ee fro m the heat - retainin g carafe ,
the d rip - throu g h li d d oes not nee d to
be re m o v e d an d shoul d re m ain in place .
