4. Settings.
4.2.2 Backpedal brake
The backpedal brake is actuated by pedaling backwards. The drive op-
tions of the freewheel brake hub and the 3 or 7-gear freewheel brake hub
feature a backpedal brake.
The backpedal brake is only functional when the chain sits correctly! If the chain
jumps off, it is not possible to brake using the backpedal brake!
The rear wheel may block in case of strong braking procedures. Risk of crashes!
During long downhill runs, it is essential that you use the front and rear
brakes in order to avoid overheating of the rear hub brake. This may lead to brake
malfunctions!
4.2.3 Wheel brake
The wheel brake is operated by pulling the
right brake grip on the handlebars. The wheel
brake is only part of the “7-speed freewheel
hub with roller brake” drive.
Adjusting the wheel brake
Ensure that the braking function immediately
takes effect on actuation of the wheel brake,
taking the necessary backlash into account.
Due to "settling" of the Bowden cables,, it is
necessary to reset the brake after a certain
amount of time. To do this, turn the cable ad-
justing screw (
A
) of the brake unit or the brake
grip so that there is a 15 mm “clearance” (
B
)
on the brake grip. After pulling the brake
handle to check the brake performance, se-
cure the tension adjustment screws (
A
) with the tension adjusting nut (
C
)
to a tightening torque of 1-2 Nm. In case of doubt, this work should be left
to your specialist dealer.
Caution
If one of the following phenomena occurs when using the wheel brake,
stop the drive immediately and ask your specialist dealer (see
Point 9.5
) to
carry out checks and repairs if necessary.
1. Unusual noise is heard when braking
2. Brake force is unusually strong
3. Brake force is unusually weak
