Step 1. Connect the instrument as shown in Fig.3.20.
Connect I/Q signal output on the rear panel to two input ports of a oscilloscope via the BNC
cables, set another signal generator to the pulse modulation output mode and use it as the external
trigger source; set the pulse source as pulse train to generate three pulses: Width: 0.2us, Period: 4μs,
10μs, 20μs. Connect to Monitor Output of this signal generator to a BNC tee connector, of which one
end is connected to Code Pattern Trigger Input of the vector signal generator and the other end is
connected to the third input port of the oscilloscope.
Step 2. Select [Arb] under the [Signal Simulation], and Arb Config Dialog pops up (Fig.3.9).
Step 3. Set parameters:
Work pattern: Sequence, Add Wave Seg: 4KTri_2MClk (sine wave), Clock: customized 200MHz;
Select [Trigger] to set the trigger style: Continue (realtime), Trig Source: external, polarity: positive,
delay: off;
Step 4. Change the trigger style to Single (Buffer Repeated Trig)
Step 5. Set “Arb Seq” to ON.
Step 6. Observe those traces on the oscilloscope.
As shown in Fig.3.26: Signal 1: external trigger signal, Signal 2: I output, Signal 3: Q output. The
arrival of the first pulse triggers the playback of waveform segment and if a next trigger signal arrives
during the playback, it will be recorded and triggers playback at the end of the last waveform segment
playback.

Example 4: Work pattern: Sequence, Add Seg: 4KTri_2MClk (sine wave), clock:
customized 200MHz, Trig Style: Single (Real-time Repeated Trig), trigger source: Ext; Neg:
Pos.
The operations are the same as above with the trigger mode changed to Single (Real-time
Repeated Trig), and the oscilloscope output is shown in Fig.3.27.
As shown in the figure, Signal 1: external trigger signal, Signal 2: I output, Signal 3: Q output.
The arrival of the first pulse triggers the playback of waveform segment and if a next trigger
signal arrives during the playback, the current waveform segment stops playing and starts to play
from the beginning.
