cook burgers, steak, poultry (we recommend cooking boneless chicken, since
it does not cook evenly), fish and vegetables. Cooking on the open press is
the most versatile method of using the press. In the open position, you have
double the surface area. You have the option of cooking different types of
foods on separate plates without combining their flavours or cooking large
amounts of the same type of food. The open position also accommodates
different cuts of meat with varying thicknesses, allowing you to cook each
piece to your liking.
Fill the Press
• When the thermostat light glows green, rather use an oven glove to open the
press. It will take approximately 5 minutes for thermostat light to glow green.
• Lay the food on the bottom plate with a spatula or tongs, not your fingers.
• Close the press. The hinge is articulated to cope with thick or oddly shaped
foods.
• The press plates should be roughly parallel to avoid uneven cooking.
• Wait while the food cooks.
Check
• Check that the food is thoroughly cooked, make sure that any juices run
clear. If you are in doubt then leave it for a little longer or use a temperature
probe to be sure.
• Use only silicone or heat resistant plastic tongs or wooden utensils to remove
food from the press.
Finished?
• Unplug the press (switch the socket off first, if it’s switchable).
• Put on the oven glove, empty the drip tray into a heatproof bowl then give it a
wipe with kitchen paper and put it under the front of the press.
