Router Startup and Configuration
Starting Router
Building Configuration Environment
When you use the router for the very first time, you will need to configure the router through a console port as follows:
1)
As illustrated below, connect the serial port of a character terminal or microcomputer to the console port through a
RS232 cable.
Build a local configuration environment through the console port.
The console and AUX ports of the RSR50E series routers are on the front of the router.
2) Set the communication parameters of the terminal. For a microcomputer, you will need to run a terminal emulation
program like Windows operating system’s Hyperterm. Take Hyperterm for example. Run Hyperterm, create a
connection, select the serial port to be connected with the router console, set communication parameters as follows:
baud rate to 9600, databit to 8, stop bit to 1, parity to No, flow control to No, and terminal emulation type to VT100.
1. Create a connection.
2. Select the serial port to be connected with the router console.
3. Set communication parameters for the serial port.
4. Select a terminal emulation type.
When you have finished building the configuration environment, you may power on the router.
Powering on Router
Check before Powering on
Before powering on the router, please check
If the power cable and the grounding cable are connected correctly.
If the power supply voltage meets the requirement.
If the configuration cable is connected correctly, the microcomputer or terminal is turned on, and the setting is
complete.
