Remove the following covers.

I/S Cover
Maintenance Cover
Left Side Cover
Front Cover
Top Cover

3-12 ENCODER SCALE REPLACEMENT

I/S COVER

FRONT COVER

TOP COVER

MAINTENANCE COVER

LEFT SIDE COVER

Move the Head Carriage slowly leftwards.

HEAD CARRIAGE

Remove the Encoder Scale by removing the plate fixing
the Encoder Scale at its right end and the spring on its
left end.

Remove the Spring Plate from the Encoder Scale and fix
it to the new Encoder Scale where there is no black dot
written on it.

Make sure not to scratch or put grease on the
Encoder Scale when fixing it.
Do not touch the surface of the Encoder Scale.
