2.3.7 Bandwidth Measurement in Scan

Before starting the

Bandwidth Measurement

the

Start

and

Stop Frequency

should be set so that the

range is at least about two times wider than the expected bandwidth (test-scan). The

Bandwidth

Measurement

can only be selected with button <B> if the scan is stopped.

There are two possibilities:

•

x dB down (default is 26 dB)

•

Percent below peak (ß measurement) (default 1 %)

Please insure before starting the measurement that a sufficient measurement dynamic range is
available (e.g.

S

30 dB).The measurement is always performed with

Max Peak

. Also the step width

should be made small enough to get a fine resolution.

•

After starting the scan the

center frequency

marker is manually set with the mouse or by entering

the frequency in the corresponding input field.

•

The measurement window is set in that way that one of the yellow lines is moved with the mouse
where the other follows symmetrically around the center. Another method would be to enter the
value in the corresponding input field.

•

Depending on the selected number of scans (1, 10, 100) and sufficient measurement dynamic the
differential markers appear on the screen (small yellow circles at the left and right flanges of the
signal of interest) and the corresponding calculated bandwidth is displayed in the line above the
graphic.

The following picture shows the ß-method with 1 % setting.
