1.5 UMS100/120 configuration for dial-up

connections using a mobile network

CAUTION

Before the UMS100/120s can be connected via a mobile phone network to, for example,
GSM technology, "SIM cards" must be obtained from that network operator which provides
sufficient coverage at the planned UMS100/120 locations. In addition, UMS100/120
operator must apply for a special number for the

Data Call

function with the "SIM card".

Before insertion of the “SIM card” into the UMS100/120 the “PIN entry” must be disabled.

This can be done by placing the card into a standard mobile phone.

Insert the SIM card prior to starting the UMS100/120. The UMS100/120 must be disconnected from the
power supply. For further information please refer to the UMS100/120 User Manual.

It is now possible to carry out full configuration via the GSM connection which is available once the SIM
card has been inserted and the power supply is connected up. But further preparation is necessary on
the control PC for setting up dial-up networking which will be described in due course.

Due to the high speed, we recommend that the UMS100/120 configurations are done using the LAN
interface, as previously described.

The procedure is the same as the one already described (Figure 1-3 to Figure 1-9). In addition, you
must also fill in the parameters for

Incoming Connection

and

Dialup Connection

for the reverse

direction in the last entry field (Figure 1-10) and click on <Submit> each time to send it to the
UMS100/120.

1.6 Configuring the control PC for a LAN/WAN

connection

When all the UMS100/120 are connected by LAN to the control PC in the main office, make sure the
network card address is set as follows:

The address must be located in the same address range as all the UMS100/120.

•

The

Subnet Mask

must also correspond.
