10. Setting up the Transmitter
Important note:
In the operating instructions, the numbers in the text always refer to the figure opposite or the figures within
the section. Cross-references to other figures will be indicated by the corresponding figure number.
a) Inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries
For the power supply of the transmitter you will need 8 alkaline batteries (e.g. Conrad Item No. 652507, pack of 4,
order 2) or rechargeable batteries mignon size (AA). For ecological and also for economical reasons it is recom-
mended to use rechargeable batteries, since they can be recharged in the transmitter via a built-in charging socket
(see figure 1, pos. 19).
To insert the batteries or rechargeable batteries, please proceed as follows:
The battery compartment lid (figure 2 item 3) is located on the back of the transmitter. Please press the corrugated
triangle and push off the lid downward.
Now insert the eight batteries or rechargeable batteries in the battery holder. Always make sure the polarity of the
batteries is correct. Afterwards slide the lid of the battery compartment back on and let the locking mechanism click into
place.
b) Charging batteries in the transmitter
When using rechargeable batteries, you can attach a charging cable to the charging jack (se ill. 1, pos. 19) while the
transmitter is switched off to charge the rechargeable batteries in the transmitter. Always make sure the polarity of the
connecting plug is correct. The inner contact of the charging socket must be connected to the positive terminal (+) and
the outer contact to the negative terminal (-) of the charger. The charging current should correspond to approximately
1/10 of the capacity value of the inserted rechargeable batteries. In order to avoid damage to the internal conductor
paths and connections, please do not use any quick chargers.
Connect the charger only if the rechargeable batteries (1.2V/cell) have been inserted in the transmitter.
Never try to recharge batteries (1.5 V/cells) with the charger. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
When the rechargeable batteries have been recharged or new batteries have been inserted, turn on the transmitter
with the on/off switch (see figure 1, pos. 1) for test purposes. The current voltage is indicated on the display.
In order to avoid the memory effect of NiCd rechargeable batteries, you should connect the charger only when the
rechargeable batteries are completely discharged. The maximum admissible charge current is 200 mA.
c) Adjusting the transmitter antenna
The transmitter antenna must always be angled to the top to ensure the best possible radiation and thus the best
possible range. Never point the antenna of the transmitter directly at the model!
