Upgrading Firmware Through the UART Interface 

For Users of Firmware Version lower than 2.1.0.1.2.5 

This section is for users who want to upgrade from Version x to Version y, both x 
and y being less than 2.1.0.1.2.5 

The firmware of the module can be upgraded using the UART interface. 
Upgrading of firmware using the SPI interface is not supported. However, 
upgrading firmware using the wireless interface is supported. If the user wants 
to the upgrade the firmware of the module with a newer version, the following 
flow should be used. 

1.Connect a PC to the Module through the UART interface, using a UART cable. 

2.Open the application 

RS.WSC.x.x.GENR.x.x.x.x.x.x\Resources\UART\Firmware_upgrade\WSC
_FW_Upgrade_Util.exe 

in the PC. This application can be found in the 

software release package. The application will automatically scan for UART ports 
in the PC and display the appropriate port.   

 

 

2.From the drop-down box, select the COM port that is connected to the 
module‟s UART interface. 

3.Click “Open S19” button. Select the file 

RS.WSC.x.x.GENR.x.x.x.x.x.x\Firmware\WiSe_WLAN.S19

. Now press 

“Connect” button. 

4.Within 10 secs of pressing the “Connect” button, give a hard-reset to the 
module. 

 5.The message window of the GUI will prompt to start the upgrade. Click on 
“Start Upgrade” button.
