Place the mark you made on the housing on the line between the jaws of the vice. Now
bend the bracket back towards the vertical position until the mount is about 1/8” (or the
width of the wire tire) beyond the housing. Get this as close as possible. Some minor,
final adjustment will most likely be necessary after final assembly anyway.
To check the fit, press the housing down against the puck, put the fork on the axle and
then “swing” it into place. Swinging the mount into place will help prevent damage or
breakage of the brushes. Don’t forget the concave radius of the brush housing should be
towards the fork. Put the 2 screws in place and just snug them. You’ll want to be able to
move the block on the bracket.

This picture shows the proper alignment. The brush housing is parallel to the PUC and
the brushes protrude equally about 1/8” – less is better.
Under no circumstances should
the distance be greater than 1/8” or you risk breaking the brushes during operation.
Now
is the time to make any final “tweaks” to the mount.
