OPERATION OF ACCESSORIES
3 - 3
NOTE: If a Ni-Cd battery is used, perform occasional deep
discharge to the battery to maintain full capacity. The deep
discharge cycle can be done proceeding a charge cycle by
powering the unit with the AC adapter. The display will
prompt:
Deep Discharge?
Press the
[Y/+]
key. The charge
cycle will automatically follow. The deep discharge is
useful to remove memory effects from the Ni-CD battery so
that the charge capacity is maintained. For Ni-MH battery,
there is no need to perform this deep discharge operation.
Note: With the smart charging circuitry, a maximum charge
time is imposed, so removing the charger is not necessary.
The battery of the VRAE monitor will be drained slowly
even if the monitor is turned off. If the monitor has not been
charged for 5-7 days, the battery voltage will be low.
The factory-supplied battery is designed to last for 10 hours
of normal operation (no alarm, no back light condition) for a
new battery under the best condition. As the battery
becomes older or is subject to adverse conditions (such as
cold ambient temperature), the battery capacity will be
reduced significantly.
When the monitor is on and the AC adapter is plugged in, the
smart charging circuitry will constantly apply charge current.
To use the smart charging function, turn off the monitor
first, and then apply the AC adapter.
