The SC setting is only saved as part of a preset save. If SC is changed during regular operation and power is cycled
on the transmitter, the SC setting reverts to the saved setting.
Switch Box Behavior Notes:
a.
If a switch box is present during power up of the transmitter, AND the SC command is set to 1, the switch
box settings are read, and the mode, frequency, and LDPC values (if applicable), are set based on the
switch box values.
b.
After a transmitter is powered up, if a switch box is disconnected from the transmitter and then reconnected
(also referred to as hot plug-in), OR if the switch box was NOT detected on power up, but was detected at a
later time (also a hot plug-in), then the transmitter settings for the mode, frequency, and LDPC are sent to
the switch box to keep it in sync with the transmitter.
c.
After a transmitter is powered up, and a switch box is connected and detected, any change of mode,
frequency, or LDPC on the switch box is detected by the transmitter and acted upon (if SC = 1)—a
message
from
the switch box displays on the terminal or Handheld Programmer, such as “SWBX Chan 1,
Mode set to SOQPSK” and the mode on transmitter is changed to SOQPSK— and any changed mode,
frequency, or LDPC setting on the transmitter, is sent to the switch box to keep it in sync with the
transmitter.
4.2.1.1.16 Frequency Sweep
– SW
When a frequency sweep is started, it will run continuously until manually stopped, except for the following
circumstances.
•
If a mode change (from a terminal, Handheld Programmer, or switch box) or recall preset occurs, the sweep
is automatically terminated.
•
If the frequency on an attached switch box is changed while a sweep is running, the sweep terminates.
•
If invalid sweep parameters are entered, or an error message occurs while a sweep is running, the sweep
will terminate.
This is to ensure the integrity of the transmitter frequency during the parameter changes, and to keep the frequency
displayed on a connected switch box in sync with the transmitter. For example, if the mode changes to SOQPSK
while a sweep is running, the sweep is automatically terminated, then the new parameters are copied. Another
example: if a sweep is running and the user attempts to change the sweep to “SW 1 1300 1400 1”, the transmitter
recognizes an invalid frequency and disables the sweep.
It is possible to change sweep parameters while a sweep is running. Entering new sweep parameters such as “SW 1
1435.5 1442.5 1” seamlessly restarts the sweep with the new frequencies. An attached switch box is only updated
with the original starting sweep frequency and the stop frequency. Changes during a sweep are not reported to the
switch box.
The valid step size range is >= 1 kHz to <= 1000 MHz.

4.2.1.1.17 System Status Command
– SY
The status reporting period must be > 200 ms or zero (0) to disable. Items in the SY command are defined with the
SZ command. The minimum update period is 200 ms (about 5 times per second).
