Alternative method selection for preprocessing methods
To select an appropriate preprocessing method for a Maxwell
®
RSC purification kit, touch the
text box at the top of the ‘Methods’ screen (Figure 31) and either scan or type the bar code on
the Maxwell
®
RSC reagent kit box indicated by the Scan Here label (Figure 32). The Maxprep™
software requires manual entry of bar codes in the following format: Product Catalog Number,
Kit Lot Number, Expiration Date in year-month format (example: AS13303221872020-05, where
the product catalog number is AS1330, the kit lot number is 322187 and the expiration date is
2020-05). Only if the bar code entered has this format will a method be selected. If applicable,
select any of the other variants that you wish to run to change the selection.
There are two possible warnings that can be displayed based on entry of kit bar code
information. For kits that have passed the expiration date, the Maxprep™ software will display
a warning that the kit is past expiration. If the administrator has allowed the use of expired kits,
the user can make the choice of whether to proceed with this method or not; otherwise, the
software will not allow the selection of a method based on a bar code that indicates the kit has
expired. When there is no corresponding method for a kit based on the bar code entry, the
software will display a warning of the issue. Check the Promega web site (
