Operating the Maxprep™ Liquid Handler
The ‘Methods’ screen displays the list of methods installed in the Maxprep™ Software
(Figure 31). The following information is displayed for each method:
Mark this method or variant method as a favorite for filtering purposes.
When the folder icon appears in an entry it indicates that variant methods
have been created for this entry. Select the method entry to expand the
folder and view the available administrator-defined variant methods.
Name The name of the method
Description
A description of the method
Type Indicates whether this is a preprocessing or post-processing method
Sample Type Indicates whether this method applies to DNA samples, RNA samples, or
Universal (total nucleic acid) samples
Catalog ID The catalog number for the kit (if any) associated with this method
Version The version number of this method
Use the filter check boxes on the left side of the screen to display only certain types of methods.
You can filter by:
• Method Type: Preprocessing or post-processing methods.
• Sample Type: DNA, RNA or Universal (total nucleic acid) sample types.
•
Favorites:
Only methods where the Favorites star icon to the left of the method is
highlighted.
• Keyword: Type in a word or word fragment to only show methods that contain that word in
the Name, Description or CatalogID field.
Once you have chosen a method to run, either select the method or variant to highlight or use
the alternative instructions below to select preprocessing methods based on preprocessing kit
bar code. A
Proceed button will appear on the right side of the highlighted method entry. Press
the Proceed button to start the selected method.
