Poseidon
is a Swedish company with a broad range of diving
equipment for the professional as well as for the sports diver.
Poseidon supplies to the navies of most of the world’s industrialised
countries. The company has a substantial development department,
in which new products are tested and well-tried constructions are
refined. The drysuit is one of many examples of technically advan-
ced and distinctive Poseidon products.
The drysuit has been developed to increase the pleasure of your
diving experience. Its design is unique. That is why it requires
somewhat different care than an ordinary diving suit. If you follow
the instructions your drysuite will give you lasting pleasure. A great
deal of care has been taken to make it functional and resistant to
wear.
Read this before putting on the suit:
Drysuit-zip.
The specially designed water-, gas- and pressure proof zip is
extremely strong, when correctly handled.
Each zip is throughly tested at the facktory. After manufacture the
entire suit is tested. Following the instructions for use, it will last
the lifetime of the suit.
Damage to the zip will only occur when the zip is badly treated. A
damaged zip cannot be repaired and the replacement into the suit
must be done at an authorized dealer or at the factory.
Before using it for the first time
Apply lubricant stick along the zip. During the procedure, the zip
should be opened and closed a few times.
How to close the zip
To close the zip first see that the rubber protection under the zip is
flat. Then positon the zip so that the 2 sets of metal teeth are par-
allel to each other. Hold together the 2 parts of the zip in one
hand as illustrated in the picture. (See page 31, 33, 35.)
Close the zip slowly with only
one finger in the zip loop
and apply-
ing pressure only in the exact direction of the fastener.
If the zip
should be slow or get caught, do not use force. The fastener is then to
be pulled back a bit and the zip to be adjusted into the right position.
Never force the zip parts together.
The opening of the zip must also be done slowly and along its
entire length. Never only partially open the zip.
How to take care of the suit
After diving in salt or chlorinated water the suit should be washed
in clean water. After diving in dirty or sandy water we recommend
a more thorough cleaning with soap, lukewarm water and a soft
brush. A tooth brush is suitable for cleaning the zip. Please note
that a metal brush or any other sharp object must not be used.
Clean also the inside of the suit. After cleaning hang the suit to dry
in a shady place. Use the special hanger. When the suit is dry on
the outside, turn the suit inside out and let it dry on the inside.
When folding the suit make sure that the valves do not press against
the material of the suit.
The zip must not be exposed to folds and
knocks.
Putting on your suit:
See picture on the middle page
The drysuit during diving:
Connect the air hose from the first stage outlet (max. 13 bar) to
the inlet valve. Inflate the suite somewhat more than normal and
then release the air. This ensures that the suit will not fit too tight -
and at the same time it enables you to test the functioning of the
seals and valves.
The normal weight load is approx. 12-15 kg - i.e. approximately
twice as great as for a wet suit of corresponding thickness. The
amount of weight should be adapted to every individual diver.
Under normal weight balance and with the reserve air only left in
the tanks, the diver should slowly descend from the surface after
releasing the air from the suit.
