4.2.5 Jumbo Frames

The Industrial Managed Switch provides more efficient throughput for large sequential data transfers by supporting jumbo

frames up to

9216 bytes

. Compared to standard Ethernet frames that run only up to 1.5 KB, using jumbo frames significantly

reduces the per-packet overhead required to process protocol encapsulation fields.

4.2.6 File Management

Copy Operation

Allows the transfer and copying files, such as:

Downloading System Software from a Server

Downloading Configuration Settings from a Server

Saving Configuration Settings

Restoring Configuration Settings



Delete

Allows deletion of files from the flash memory



Set Start-Up

Sets the startup file

4.2.6.1 Copy Operation

You can upload / download

firmware

configuration

to or from a TFTP server. By saving runtime code to a file on a TFTP

server, that file can later be downloaded to the Industrial Managed Switch to restore operation.

You can also set the Industrial Managed Switch to use new firmware without overwriting the previous version. You must specify

the method of file transfer, along with the file type and file names as required.
