4.11.5 TACACS Settings

This page is to configure the TACACS server connection session parameters. The TACACS Settings screen in

Figure 4-11-4

appears.

The page includes the following fields:

Object

Description

TACACS Settings -Global

Provides globally applicable settings.

ServerIndex

Specifies the index number of the server to be configured. The switch currently

supports only one server.

Server IP Address

Address of the server.

Server Port Number

Network (TCP) port of server used for authentication messages.

(Range: 1-65535; Default:

)

Number of Server

Transmits

Number of times the switch attempts to send an authentication request to the

server.

(Range: 1-30; Default:

)

Timeout for a reply

The number of seconds the switch waits for a reply from the server before it

resends the request.

(Range: 1-540 seconds; Default:

)

Secret Text String

Encryption key used to authenticate logon access for client. Do not use blank

spaces in the string.

(Maximum length: 48 characters)

The local switch user database has to be set up by manually entering user names and

passwords using the CLI.
