Connecting an external
decoder box (2)
If you only have a decode r , connect it to this
r eco r de r and you r TV as shown on this
p age.

Using the setu p on this p age you can:
• Reco r d sc r ambled channels r eceived
using the r eco r de r ’s built-in analog TV
tune r .
Important
• Do not connect this r eco r de r ‘th r ough’
you r VCR, satellite r eceive r o r cable box.
Always connect each com p onent
di r ectly to you r TV o r AV am p lifie r /
r eceive r .
1 Connect your TV antenna to the
recorder and TV.
See

on p age 15 fo r
details.
2 Use a SCART cable (not supplied) to
connect the AV1 (RGB)-TV AV connector
to a SCART AV connector on your TV.
This enables you to watch discs.
3 Use another SCART cable to connect
the AV2 (INPUT 1/DECODER) AV
connector to a SCART AV connector on
your decoder box.
This enables you to r eco r d sc r ambled TV
channels.
Connecting to an AV
amplifier/receiver
To enjoy multichannel su rr ound sound you
need to connect this r eco r de r to an AV
am p lifie r / r eceive r using the digital coaxial
out p ut.
In addition to a digital connection, we
r ecommend also connecting using the
ste r eo analog connection fo r com p atibility
with all discs and sou r ces.
You’ll pr obably also want to connect a video
out p ut to you r AV am p lifie r / r eceive r . Use the
o r dina r y video out p ut (as shown he r e), o r the
S-Video out p ut.
Important
• Noise may be out p ut f r om you r s p eake r s
if the r eco r de r is not set u p to wo r k with
you r AV am p lifie r / r eceive r pr o p e r ly (see
Audio Out
on p age 139).
• When watching D.TV only linea r PCM
audio is out p ut f r om the coaxial digital
out jack.
• Do not connect this r eco r de r to you r TV
‘th r ough’ you r VCR using A/V cables.
Always connect it di r ectly to you r TV.
