Position the IR t r ansmitte r end of the
G-LINK™ cable so that the IR r eceive r on
you r cable/satellite r eceive r will p ick u p the
cont r ol signals (see diag r am).
See the manual that came with you r cable/
satellite r eceive r if you’ r e not su r e whe r e the
IR r eceive r is on the f r ont p anel.
Alte r natively, ex p e r iment with the r emote
cont r ol, o p e r ating it f r om ve r y close r ange
until you find the p lace whe r e the r eceive r
r es p onds.
Tip
• This r eco r de r has a ‘th r ough’ function
which allows you to r eco r d a TV
pr og r amme f r om the built-in TV tune r in
this r eco r de r while watching a video
p laying on you r VCR (To use this featu r e
when the r eco r de r is in standby, Power
Save must be set to Off — see
Power
Save on p age 134).
Connecting an external
decoder box (1)
If you have an exte r nal, dedicated decode r
box fo r you r satellite o r cable TV system, use
the setu p desc r ibed on this p age. See above
fo r how to connect the G-LINK™ cable.

• Do not connect you r decode r box di r ectly
to this r eco r de r .
• Info r mation f r om the decode r (fo r
exam p le, r elating to p ay TV se r vices), is
only viewable when this r eco r de r is off
(in standby).
• Fo r time r r eco r ding to wo r k pr o p e r ly on
this r eco r de r , the VCR/satellite r eceive r /
cable box must also be switched on

• It is not p ossible to watch one TV
pr og r amme and r eco r d anothe r using
this setu p .
1 Connect the cable from the antenna/
cable TV outlet to the antenna input on
your VCR/satellite receiver/cable box.

Use a SCART cable (not supplied) to
connect your decoder to your VCR/
satellite receiver/cable box.
See the manual fo r you r decode r box fo r
mo r e detailed inst r uctions.
3 Use a SCART cable to connect your
VCR/satellite receiver/cable box to the
AV2 (INPUT 1/DECODER) AV connector
on this recorder.

Use a SCART cable to connect the AV1
(RGB)-TV AV connector to your TV.
