2. Place each window in the holder, with the seal in place, and tighten the screw using the
screwdriver provided.
NOTE: Do not over tighten the screw.
3. Close the spare window compartment cover.
If you have an MCT detector for the MIR range, you will be supplied with an Attenuator kit
(part number L1160560) containing 1%T, 4%T, 6%T, 14%T and 32%T attenuators. The
attenuators attach to the KBr window magnetically.
Before you change to the MIR MCT detector in Spectrum software, fit one of the attenuators
supplied to the window to the right of the sample compartment to prevent the detector from
overloading (Figure 27). If you have an open beam, a 14%T attenuator is recommended.

NOTE: If you have a Frontier FT-IR/FT-FIR spectrometer with an MCT detector and the
instrument was in the MIR range when it was switched off, it is recommended that a
6%T attenuator is fitted to the sample compartment window before switching on the
instrument again, to prevent errors during the initialization of the FIR detector.
